King Senusret I

Following the expansion of agriculture in Egypt, particularly in the Fayoum. King Senusret I constructed the first canal connecting the Red Sea and the Nile, which was named the Senusret (Sesostris) Canal. This was done to facilitate trade with Asian countries.
