Ptolemy III “Euergetes = the good man or the giver “(246-221 BC)
Considered the most prosperous ruler of the Ptolemaic dynasty, Ptolemy III’s reign is often referred to as the Golden Age. His notable accomplishments include: 1- Temple of Edfu: He began the construction of this magnificent temple, one of the largest in Egypt. 2- Library of Alexandria: Ptolemy established this renowned library, collecting books and maps from around the world. He also added labs such as gardens and putting birds, plants, backs and trees in them and called it “Mouseion” that the word “museum” is derived from. In this “Mouseion” all Greek scholars learned throughout the ages, especially the scientist “Euclid” and “Pythagoras”.
