King Ahmose II (Amasis) (570-526 BC)

During the reign of King Ahmose II (Amasis) (570-526 BC), Greek traders and craftsmen appeared in Egypt, and many Greek historians appeared during that period. They expelled the Assyrians from Egypt and united Egypt with the lands of Nubia and Syria. They allied against the Babylonian kingdom, which had conquered Mesopotamia. For the first time, an Egyptian king employed Greek mercenaries who helped him expel the Assyrians and repel the Babylonians.
