Everything you need to know about Nile cruises and excursions in Egypt

We’ve compiled answers to the most frequently asked questions about cruises to ensure your journey begins smoothly and without any worries. Here you’ll find information on itineraries, visas, cabins, meals, safety, and other important details before departure.

Each cabin has air conditioning, a wardrobe, a mirror, a minibar (for a fee), a bathtub, a hairdryer, two towels per guest, and either French windows or a balcony.
Linens and towels are changed daily on the ship.
Each cabin has a king-size bed and a sofa or two single beds and a sofa.

Internet on the ship is available for an additional fee. On Luxury and Dahabeya ships, internet is provided free of charge.

Children under 6 years old stay for free (maximum two). From 6 to 11.99 years old — 50% of the price.
No more than two children under 12 years old are allowed in one cabin. Children over 12 years old are accommodated under adult conditions.
If there is one child over 12 and another child over 6, they must stay in a separate double cabin. Accommodation of 2 adults, a child over 12, and a child over 6 in the same cabin is not allowed due to cabin size limitations.

All cabins are about 20 square meters. All cabins have a view of the Nile.

The triple cabin is equipped with three separate beds or a double bed and a sofa.

Meals are served buffet-style three times a day. They start with lunch on the first day upon check-in and end with breakfast on the last day.

Drinks: tea, coffee, and juice are free at breakfast; during lunch and dinner, they are paid. Evening tea on the deck is also free of charge. Water is paid during breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as all other drinks, including alcoholic beverages.

You may bring your own snacks and drinks on board, including alcohol, but consuming food or drinks not purchased on the ship is only allowed in your cabin.

Check-in on the ship is at 12:00, check-out from the ship is after breakfast before 9:00 a.m.

A mandatory prepayment of 50% of the cruise cost is required, and 75% during New Year’s and holidays.
Payment is made in Russian rubles to a Russian card; payment in cryptocurrency or cash in USD is also available in Hurghada.

During the cruise, you will need money for water/drinks during excursions and souvenirs, as well as for optional additional excursions.

In Aswan, you can buy porcelain, gold, and papyrus; in Luxor, oils, alabaster, and papyrus. Your guide will help you navigate the shops and purchases.

During excursions, sun-protective clothing is required, and wearing a hat is strongly recommended.

Cruise ships usually consist of 60–70 cabins.
Dahabeya ships accommodate from 4 to 12 cabins and can be booked entirely.

You must take your passport with you on the cruise. Your passport will be kept at the ship’s reception until your check-out.

Tips on the ship are a mandatory service charge and are paid upon check-in. The amount of mandatory tips is $10 per adult per night.
Tips for the guide, if you enjoyed the excursions, are not included in this amount and are paid separately at your discretion.

During excursions on the cruise, two guides are available.
For groups larger than 10 people, the guide stays with the group on the ship at all times.
If you want a guide to stay with you on the ship and your group has fewer than 10 people, this service is available for an additional fee.

The cruise price includes transfers in Aswan and Luxor from the train station to the ship.
The cost of transfer from Aswan Airport or Luxor Airport to the ship is $50 for 1–4 people. For more than 4 people, the cost is $10 per person.
Transfers from other cities (Cairo, Hurghada, Marsa Alam) are available for an additional fee, except for cruise programs that include Cairo or hotel stays in Hurghada, where the transfer is included in the price.
